At Tom & Toto, no two days are ever quite the same—but the structure behind them always is. Because for us, great daycare isn’t about chaos or constant tearing around to tire out dogs- it’s about creating a calm, balanced day where dogs feel safe, fulfilled and genuinely happy.
Your dog’s day begins with a warm welcome when the doors open at 8am. We take time to read their body language and energy levels, helping them settle in at their own pace and guide each dog into their compatible play group based on temperament, age, energy levels, size and play style.
Once everyone has arrived, the morning focuses social interaction and exploring the daycare environment. Snuffling in the vegetation, burning off some energy playing with friends or engaging with our team —it’s about purposeful activity that builds confidence and keeps minds engaged.
Midday is all about rest. Just like children, dogs need downtime to process their experiences. We create calm spaces where dogs can switch off, recharge and relax indoors. We pop on a relaxing playlist and settle down with the dogs. This is a vital part of preventing stress and ensuring a positive daycare experience.
In the afternoon, we reintroduce play, learning and enrichment, some dogs enjoy another social session, while others prefer one-to-one enrichment, perhaps learning ‘trick of the month’ or simply pottering around at their own pace. We meet each dog where they are.
Throughout the day, our team is constantly observing, guiding and supporting—ensuring play remains safe, positive and appropriate. It’s this level of care and attention that creates our calm, structured environment.
By the time you collect your dog from 4pm, they’re not just tired—they’re content. They’ve socialised, learned, rested and enjoyed a day designed entirely around their wellbeing.
