HOW IT ALL BEGAN

I’m Sarah, founder of Tom and Toto, and my journey has taken me from the wilds of South Africa to a dog-loving community here in Norwich.

My career with animals began over 20 years ago in wildlife conservation. As a Big 5 Safari Guide in South Africa’s Kruger National Park, I experienced animals in their natural environment and developed a deep appreciation for their behaviour and individual needs.

Back in the UK, I spent several years caring for lions, tigers, bears and wolves at Woburn Safari Park. Working with such extraordinary animals taught me so much about welfare, enrichment and the importance of giving every animal the right environment to thrive.

In 2013, I brought that experience closer to home and founded Tom and Toto. What began with dog walking, pet sitting and training grew into something I had long dreamed of: our first doggy daycare centre, which opened in 2022.

Today, at White House Farm in Sprowston, we combine a cosy home-from-home with half an acre of mature gardens for dogs to explore, play and make friends. Along the way, we’ve been named UK’s Best Doggy Daycare in both 2022 and 2023, Small Business of the Year at the EDP Business Awards in 2024 and a finalist in the Broadland Business Awards our local Authority in 2025—wonderful recognition for the care our team puts into every day.

I’m proud to work alongside a fully qualified team who share my passion for animal welfare and getting to know each dog as an individual. Together, we’ve built a welcoming community where dogs feel at home and owners feel supported.
