Cheesy dog biscuits

Ingredients:

  • 200g wholewheat flour
  • 1 egg
  • 50g applesauce
  • 50ml water
  • 1 tbsp coconut oil
  • ½ tsp cinnamon

Filling:

  • 50g cream cheese
  • 1tsp beetroot powder (optional)

Method:
Preheat your oven to 180°C/ 160°C Fan/ gas 4

  1. Place some greaseproof paper onto a baking tray
  2. Add your egg into a large bowl and beat using a fork
  3. Add the applesauce, coconut oil, cinnamon and wholewheat flour into the bowl and mix
  4. Add the water, a little at a time, until the mixture forms a dough. Your dough should be workable, but not sticky. If your dough is too sticky add a little bit more flour
  5. Roll the dough out until it is about an inch thick
  6. Cut out your biscuits using a cutter or a knife. Make sure you cut out an even number of biscuits, as there needs to be a top and a bottom
  7. Put your biscuits onto your baking tray
  8. Bake in the oven for 10-15 mins
  9. To make your filling, add the cream cheese and beetroot powder into a mixing bowl. Add more powder dependent on your desired colour
  10. Once the biscuits are completely cool, add a teaspoon of the filling to half of the biscuits and spread evenly using a butter knife
  11. Add the top onto the bottom of the biscuit and put into the fridge for an hour
