Think smart when it comes to your thermostat
Using a smart thermostat that you can pre programme will help keep your home at a suitable temperature for your pet while not costing a fortune. Most thermostats nowadays allow control from phone so its even easier to keep your home at a comfortable temperature for your pet. Talking to your vet can help determine the ideal temperature for your pets size and breed.
Not a fan
Don’t leave fans on when you are not home. Most pets, especially those with long hair will not feel the air from a fan.
All of the lights
Contrary to popular belief, you don’t need to leave the lights on for your dog when they are home alone or overnight. Most animals, including dogs, have eyes that can adjusted to dimly lit rooms. Also dogs are similar to humans, in that they use natural lights to regulate their body clocks.
Doors for thought
If not properly installed, doggie doors can waste a lot of heat energy and therefore money. Make sure your door is sealed properly with strong sealant to prevent any unnecessary air (and money) escaping.
Cold washes only
Doing hot washes increases the amount of energy and money spent. When it’s time to wash your pets bedding and toys, rinse them under a tap in cold water or put a cold wash on to get them clean.
